Why did you join Kidzuna?:

I joined Kidzuna after being interested in helping out the holiday events after hearing my friend’s experiences. I also became interested in being responsible to pass on stories by the victims of the earthquake in Tohoku.

Past experience:

Since middle school, I’ve been in this club, helping out a few holiday events and coming up with new ideas with Mr. Jones. Currently, I attend every meeting on Thursday to complete my project for creating this Kidzuna website.

I am currently the person making all the blogs and edits here!

Goals:

I will strive to accomplish my new project of creating this Kidzuna website. All the blogs, this whole website, and the extra fun writings are all done by me! I will make sure to pass this website on to the next generation when my turn is over.

Why did you join Kidzuna?:

I joined Kidzuna because I was very interested in learning more about the Tohoku earthquake and how it affected those who were involved in the disaster. I wanted to hear more stories in order to spread awareness to others and people in our school community.

Past experience:

I joined Kidzuna last year however there is some volunteer work I have done for some events. A very long time ago possibly in middle school or elementary, I was involved with one of the Christmas events that were being held at our school.

Goals:

My goal is to be able to have the opportunity to go to Tohoku and hear the stories of what others went through and who have been affected by this disaster.

Why did you join Kidzuna?:

I joined Kidzuna because I strongly believe the significance of the Tohoku earthquake must not be forgotten about. It is our generation who are responsible for listening to stories from the victims of the earthquake and passing them down to the generations that follow us. I am excited to collaborate with the community to spread awareness through creative and enjoyable forms of communication.

Past experience:

I officially joined the club last year, however, I have been volunteering in Kidzuna events for a while now. I also help run the ASA (after school activity) at the school with Mr. Jones.

Goals:

My goal is to visit Tohoku one day and talk to those affected by the disaster in person.

Why did you join Kidzuna?:

I joined Kidzuna when I heard that they were involved in sharing stories about the Tohoku earthquake. As a part of the population who experienced the incident, I thought keeping the story alive and telling them to younger kids is important.

Past experience:

I’ve been in the club for about 3 years, and I have participated in the annual Halloween/ Christmas craft workshops.

Goals:

I want to go on the trips to Tohoku to physically make an impact :)

Why did you join Kidzuna?:

March 11th, 2011 was a day that left many, including myself, horrified. Regardless of my young age, I started helping out with Kidzuna events because I believed in the impact a small support can have at times of hardship. My best memory was when I heard that the children of Tohoku felt supported and loved when they received a hand-made paper Christmas tree created at one of Kidzuna’s Christmas events.

Past experience:

have been an active member of Kidzuna since elementary school. Over the years, I have been voluntarily helping out in numerous events such as the Christmas Fair and Earth Day to support the people of Tohoku as much as possible.

Goals:

My goal is to visit Tohoku myself and most importantly, keep their story alive.

Why did you join Kidzuna?:

I initially joined Kidzuna because I was interested in helping out with the crafty events the club held. However, since joining the club I have realized the importance of remembering the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and keeping the stories alive from those who have been affected. I hope that the craft events we hold for younger students act as a launchpad for them to grow their knowledge.

Past experience:

I have been involved in Kidzuna since middle school, and participated in events held for Halloween, Christmas, and earth day. I also had an opportunity in 2019 to visit Tohoku along with students from another international school.

Goals:

I want to spread awareness about the 2011 Tohoku earthquake to educate myself as well as others on how we can all better prepare ourselves in the future.
